Japan. Pam Adams' artistic career really began while living in Japan over a 17 year period where she studied Japanese sumi-e painting with Shoko Ohta, a wonderfully talented sensei, always dressed in kimono, who proved a real inspiration to her. While studying with Ohta-san, she painted flowers and birds depicting the four seasons on large four-panelled screens. She also learned to appreciate the importance of space and simplicity of design through studies of traditional Japanese woodblock painting.
