Painting Tour of Portugal, Spain and Morocco 2016

Beginning on September 18, 2016, Ev Hales will be leading a four-week Iberian Interlude painting tour, covering northern and south-eastern Portugal and western Spain plus a taste of Marvellous Morocco, organized by Pam and Paul Adams.

There will be painting almost every day while on the tour with individual tuition from Ev for the painters and opportunities for other activities for non-painting partners.

Accommodation will be in a wonderful selection of hotels and guest houses, including the fabulous five star Riad Fès in Morocco and the Vintage House in Pinhão, Portugal. Breakfasts are included in all accommodations. At least half the other meals will be included in the tour fees.

We will start with a couple of days in Porto and include a visit to the old village of Ponte de Lima before travelling along the Douro River to Pinhão in the heart of Port wine country. Our private coach will then take us over the mountains into Spain for several days in the gracious university city of Salamanca. Next we visit Mérida, the old Roman capital of Iberia, to paint among some of the best preserved ruins in Europe.

We travel back to Portugal during our second week to spend several days based in the whitewashed Alentejo village of Monsaraz, perched atop a hill with stunning views across the lakes to Spain. The Iberian section of the tour will end in Lisbon before we depart for Morocco.

Marvellous Morocco begins in fabled Marrakech with painting opportunities among the souks and Medina. We will also have permission to paint in Yves Saint Laurent’s Jardin Marjorelle. We then travel across the snow-tipped High Atlas Mountains to the edge of the Sahara Desert for wonderful painting among the kasbahs, oases and sand dunes, before continuing to Fès in the north. The Moroccan tour ends on October 17, 2016 in Casablanca after a dinner at the movie legend's Rick's Café.
